A LITTLE ABOUT ME

My roots have always been in the arts. My grandfather was a Polish classical music composer. My grandmother was a sculptor and painter. My father was a well-known jingle-writer and my mother was a ballet dancer.

In high school, I won awards for my poetry & paintings and dreamt of going to art school; drawing and painting every chance I got. In my senior year, however, I became a young parent and had to put this dream on hold, for the time being. 7 years later, still determined to pursue my dream of being an artist, I applied and got accepted to Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC as a Fashion Illustration major, however, midway through, and for practical purposes, I changed my major, put my fine art goals aside once again and graduated instead with a degree in Advertising Design. This launched a 30-year career in commercial art, i.e. graphic design.

About ten years into my design career in 1997, and one year after moving to Charlotte, NC, my marriage ended and I became a single parent (now of 4) once again. While working full time and raising the kids solo, I dabbled in making my own handcrafted jewelry, vending at events, and selling online.

In 2015, after a 30-year hiatus and still longing to follow my dream as an artist, I took an abstract art class taught by a brilliant local artist named Wan Marsh. This class reignited my love for being a studio artist and I became obsessed with painting and drawing once again. Still working full time, I became a weekend painter and created art in every spare moment I had, I now have an ever-growing collection of work I am quite proud of, and show in Charlotte and surrounding areas regularly.

My art is mainly intuitive mixed-media abstract expressionism. It originates from the heart; not at all from the thinking mind. I gravitate intuitively to colors and textures that speak to me in the moment. My intention with each work is that the viewer will feel and experience the energy from which each piece was created.

I also love watercolor and have many smaller works for smaller budgets in that medium as well. Originals AND prints of those are available online at my Etsy store, HERE.

As an emerging artist, I am excited about the direction in which my art is evolving, and I know in my heart that I have some amazing art still waiting to be expressed by me as a creator.

Thanks for looking!

Enjoy!
